Your Crossroads Adventure on the Eastern Plains – History, Hub City Charm & Wide-Open Skies

Limon, COLORADO

Discover Limon, Colorado, the vibrant “Hub City” of the Eastern Plains! Conveniently located where Interstate 70 meets U.S. Routes 24, 71, 40, and 287, Limon serves as the perfect crossroads destination between Denver and Colorado Springs. But there’s more to Limon than just its central location – it’s a town steeped in railroad history and brimming with small-town charm.

A Journey Through Time

From Railroad Roots to Modern Hub

Step back in time to Limon’s beginnings in 1888, when it emerged as a bustling work camp for the Chicago and Rock Island Railroad. Named after a key construction foreman, Limon quickly grew into a vital center. Today, its rich heritage is preserved at the fascinating Limon Heritage Museum & Railroad Park. Explore traditional farm equipment, wander through a beautifully restored historic train depot, imagine life in a vintage dining rail car, and even discover a Native American teepee. From the iron horse to the hardworking spirit of the High Plains, the museum brings a bygone era to life.
